When you are planning to
host a party in your home, it seems there is always something
that needs to be done. You should clean your home and remove as
much clutter as you can. Your guests will be more
comfortable.
Look around your home and decide what you need
to do. Make a note for each room. You will want to have space
for your guests to hang their coats and a place for women to
leave their purses. As you walk through your house, decide
where these two places will be and write them down.
You should start cleaning and removing clutter
from the entry to your home and then work your way through the
other rooms your guests will visit. Remove items that are not
necessary or that are expensive and could be broken in an
accident. Pack them away for the evening.
If you have children, you can close the door to
their rooms. You do not have to worry about the kids cleaning
their room since they will not be used for your party.
There are bound to be some spills and stains.
Be prepared to deal with them. Have cleaning supplies within easy reach so you
can use them to remove stains that might occur during the
party.
If your party is informal, such as a backyard
barbecue, you may want to use quality paper plates and sturdy
plastic utensils. Have a garbage receptacle nearby so guests
can easily dispose of the used articles when they finish.
You may want to use your everyday dinnerware
and silverware for a potluck supper or your best china and
silverware for a sit-down meal.
Once you have cleaned your home and removed
unnecessary items from each room, it is time to decorate. If
you have not planned a special theme party, you may want to use
flowers to make your home more inviting.
